Dance Workshops

Different kinds of dance workshops have taken place at the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam:Bharata Natyam and African dance with Sangeeta Isvaran from Chennai, Modern dance with K.S. Deepak and Mirra Rao, both from Attakkalari, Bangalore, street dance by W-Ish, Bangalore.

Comedy & Acrobatics

Katja Groll taught acrobatics.
Stefania Mariani and Dominik Huber worked with the students to visualize Kattaikkuttu's comedy and create the first-ever female Kattaikkuttu comedians.
Masha Dimitri worked with our two senior clowns, Murthy and Doraisami.
Katja, Stefania and Dominik had their training at the Scuolo Teatro Dimitri in Switzerland. The comedy & acrobatics workshops were made possible by a grant from Prohelvetia, the Swiss Arts Council in India.

Western Acting for Kattaikkuttu Girls

Jose Kuijpers, a renowned Dutch theatre, film and television actress, led an intensive acting workshop for girls. The workshop focused on stimulating the girls to move beyond female stereotypes and to identify with the characters they portray.

The girls acting workshop was funded by Mama Cash, The Netherlands.
